In the 1980s, bulletin board systems (BBS) were the precursors to modern day forums and chat rooms. Users developed creative misspellings to defeat the text filters in order to post forbidden topics, like hacking. One common method of purposely misspelling words was to replace various vowels with numbers. For example “L33T,” pronounced “leet,” was a shortening of “elite.”
We’re going to relive the glory days of the hacking l33t and create an automated l33t sp34k generator.
Open Arduino and copy the following line into the top (creating a global String object):
String input = "Eating trees is great!";
Use String member functions to replace all E’s with 3’s, A’s with 4’s, and I’s with 1’s.
